At St. James, we value questions and exploration of faith with our youth—and how those questions show up and shape our everyday lives and experiences.
The Black Mountain Youth Initiative is a collaborative effort by St. James Episcopal and Black Mountain Presbyterian churches to support the spiritual development of youth in Black Mountain and the Swannanoa Valley. We affirm and celebrate LGBTQI+ youth.

Camp Henry is held at Lake Logan and is a fun time away from family where children and youth can explore faith, fun, and God’s creation in a beautiful setting. For scholarship information, contact the parish office.
WNC Diocese Youth Retreats
Our Youth are also encouraged to attend the Diocese of Western North Carolina’s Middle School and High School retreats—held at Camp Henry during the Fall and Spring. This is a chance for youth to experience fun and faith with you from other parishes in the Diocese.
